Saturday/Sunday 15th/16th October at St.John's College, Cambridge
Jointly hosted by The Stanford Society and The Herbert Howells Society this event will include music by both composers. The Weekend will include services in King’s College, Trinity College and St. John’s College. There will be talks by Paul Spicer on Herbert Howells, and Professor Jeremy Dibble on Stanford. In addition there will be concerts in the Chapels of both King’s and Queens’ College, and a reception for members of both societies at Queens’ College.
Gemma is one of the participants.
She will talk on Saturday 15th at 14:00 St. John's College, Cambridge, about her recent recording of the Stanford Cello Concerto.

BRUCE: Gumboots for clarinet, violin, viola and cello
BRAHMS: Piano Trio in B Op. 8 (revised version)
GUMBOOTS by David Bruce was composed in 2008 to a commission from Carnegie Hall. Its title refers to gumboot dancing, which developed out of a form of communication used by black miners during apartheid in South Africa in which they would slap the chains that connected them together. This eventually evolved into a lively form of dance.
